The device is intended for electronically controlled throttles. It allows setting the throttle flap in any position by sending the appropriate control signal to the throttle controller. The current drawn by the throttles, as provided by the tester, is the main indicator of its correct operation. The current version of the DTA-1 tester allows diagnosing air throttles manufactured by Siemens, Pierburg, Valeo, Delphi, Wahler, and Magneti Marelli with the following designations:
